In the fall, winter and spring seasons, the youth choirs will be meeting and rehearsing on Sunday mornings. All are welcome! Please call the church office at 617/484-1542 for more information. Molly Jo Rivelli is leading our youth choir rehearsals. Molly Jo comes to us with a wealth of experience as a singer and performer, and also as a music teacher. Owner of MJ’s Music School in Waltham, she not only teaches classes but oversees the instruction of over 200 students, organizing annual recitals and other performances. A long-time member and musician within the life of the church, Molly Jo enjoys leading our youth choirs and being a part of Payson Park. We say ―thank you to Megan and Molly Jo, offering our prayers of gratitude to God for bringing us all together. Let us make a joy-ful noise!

The Youth Choir is for youth in grades 1 and up. They rehearse Sundays from 9:00 to 10:15 a.m. This choir builds on the curriculum following in the younger choirs, expanding the chorister’s knowledge of music theory, ear training, vocal technique, repertoire, and the role of a music ministry in the church. This group also takes the lead in the dramatic productions put on by our children’s program. We also focus our attention on singing in parts, preparing us for singing with our adult  Chancel Choir.

The Cherub Choir is the youngest group of musicians at the church and rehearses every Sunday at 11:15 a.m. during church school time. Each rehearsal is full of singing, movement, and games, as we learn sacred and secular songs and basic music concepts, using our voices, bodies, and instruments. The youth music director also visits the church nursery on the first Sunday of each month for a joyful time of singing.

We are looking forward to welcoming God’s Garden and the Children’s Music Ministries participants to our programs! We are very excited about our upcoming year and the opportunity we have to share God’s love with our faith family. In order to participate in these exciting programs, registration forms need are needed. If you would like to register your child(ren) and have not received a registration packet in the mail, please contact Cindy Lou Benson as soon as possible, either on a Sunday morning, by calling the church office, or emailing cedirector@paysonpark.org.
