YOUTH MINISTRIES

A recent Gallup poll reports that there are six basic needs of young people:
1. The need to believe that life is meaningful and has a purpose;
2. The need for practical help in developing a mature faith;
3. The need to feel one is growing in faith;
4. The need for a sense of community and deeper relationships;
5. The need to be appreciated and loved; and
6. The need to be listened to - to be heard.

Through the Youth Ministry programs at Payson Park Church, we are working to address each of these basic needs of young people.

Mission and Service

CHURCH WORK DAY
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 9:00 TO 11:00AM
All hands on deck! The Church Work Day is continuing. You have the chance to keep “pitching in” around our church home, helping with cleaning, maintenance, and repair projects. As specific projects will be coordinated, we ask that you let the Church Office know by Thursday, the 15 if you will be coming.
We thank you for pitching in!

THE MINISTRY OF ALL BELIEVERS:
OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE ABOUND
Are you looking for a way to serve the church or the world? The Nominating Committee is currently recruiting members and friends of the congregation to serve on the committees of the church. If you would like to explore ways to offer your talents and time, please speak with Carl Miller, Nominating Committee Chair.

CONTRIBUTING TO THE CHURCH:
WE THANK YOU!
Beginning a new program year together, the Treasurer and members of the Finance & Property Committees want you to know that your contributions to the church are needed and valued! If fulfilling your pledge through the summer months was deterred because you were away, please consider “catching up” soon. Our financial planning for the final months of the year depends upon our faithful contributions.

PEACE STARTS HERE:
BUILDING COMMUNITY TOGETHER
Help us grow as faithful and loving community! In addition to wearing a name tag on Sunday mornings, it’s also important that we reach out to others each week. Please make an effort to talk to someone you don’t know after worship, whether new to our congregation or a long-time member. Take a chance, make a new connection. It’s all a part of “walking in the ways of Jesus” right here at Payson Park.

PRAYING FOR THE WORLD,
SUPPORTING OUR TROOPS
Living with the realities of war, we extend our prayers for the world from our Sunday worship services to our daily lives. As we pray for peace for all people, we hold especially close those serving in the military.

DENOMINATIONAL EVENTS
Are you interested in attending educational or other events offered by our denomination? The offices of the Massachusetts Conference of the United Church of Christ, located in Framingham, provide a host of classes and workshops that are available to all. Events are regularly posted on our bulletin boards, or you may log on to the denomination’s website: macucc.org. The United Church of Christ: a believer that God is still speaking!

A NIGHT FOR PARENTS & CHILDREN

In support of healthy and loving relationships, we are happy to occasionally offer “Parents Night Out." This program seeks to help those with young children have a moment’s quality time with their partner or spouse. Please call the Church Office if you would like to participate. Pizza and other snacks are offereded. As this program enjoys great success, volunteers are greatly needed. Please consider helping soon!

Youth Group and Confirmation Class Continues

As a new school year begins, the Christian Education Committee is excited to continue its programs for youth and teenagers.
The Youth Group will reconvene, meeting twice a month for times of fun and fellowship in addition to faith exploration and service.
Confirmation Class will also begin again, students ready to think about what it means to be a Christian in this modern day and age.
If you have questions about these programs or would like to enroll your children, please speak with Lorrie Herzberg, Chair Christian Education Committee, or Cindy Lou Benson, Director.
